The basilica has been under construction since 1882 and is still not finished, which is part of the point: the newer towers rise above the older façades, and the light through the stained glass inside is unlike any other church. Visits are by timed ticket only, booked through the official website. On a port day it is a metro or taxi ride from the port, so give it at least three hours door to door.
